Weed control

We treat the weeds, not the whole lawn. Targeted spot-treatment with spot spraying puts product where it's needed - on the weed, not your grass.

What is targeted weed treatment?

Targeted weed treatment uses spot spraying to apply herbicide directly to individual weeds. Unlike blanket spraying, which covers the entire lawn surface, this approach treats only the plants that need treating.

Most lawn care companies blanket-spray the whole lawn with a selective herbicide. It works, but it means putting product on grass that doesn't need it. Our approach is more precise: we walk the lawn, identify the weeds, and apply treatment directly to each one with spot spraying. Less product on your lawn, more targeted results.

Weeds we treat

The most common weeds in Essex lawns:

Dandelions

deep taproot, bright yellow flower. Easily treated with spot spraying.

Clover

low-growing, spreading patches. Responds well to targeted treatment.

Daisies

low rosettes in frequently mown lawns. Treatment is effective but they can return in thin grass.

Plantain

broad or narrow-leaved, tough rosettes. Responds to treatment.

Buttercup

spreading habit, yellow flowers. Can indicate damp conditions.

Speedwell

small blue flowers, creeping habit. More persistent; treatment combined with lawn thickening.

When we treat weeds

Weeds are actively growing from mid-spring through autumn. We apply treatment when weeds are in active growth - typically April through September. Treatment during this window is most effective because the weed absorbs the product fully.

We don't treat in winter or early spring when weeds are dormant - it would be a waste of product and your money.

Weed treatment is included

Targeted weed spot-treatment is included in the Lawn Health and Full Lawn Care plans. If you're on the Cutting Only plan, weed treatment is available as an ad-hoc service (£15–25 per visit).

Weed treatment questions

Will the weed treatment harm my grass?
Spot spraying applies product directly to the weed leaf, so your grass isn’t touched. Selective herbicides target broadleaf weeds and don’t affect grass.
How many treatments does it take?
Most weeds die back after one treatment. Persistent weeds like clover may need a second application. Ongoing treatment through the season prevents new weeds from establishing.
Is it safe for pets?
All products are safe once dry, usually 1-2 hours. We’ll let you know after each visit.
